Frequently Asked Questions
for Individual Training

A: Each individual's training needs are different. If you are new to a certain software you may want to start at the beginning of a series and come into our computer lab and take your courses where we cover everything you need to know to use it. If you have been using software but have never taken a course you might need some one-on-one help and we can customize sessions to fit your needs. Feel free to call us at 360-770-4295 to let us help you decide what type of training you would benefit from.

A: That depends on the class you are taking. Basic level classes are designed for the "I learned it by trial and error" student as well as one with no previous experience with the software. Intermediate and Advanced classes require that you have the basic skills to move to each level.

If you are not sure, a brief call to our office will help us evaluate your skills for the classes of interest. Another option is to call and discuss your skills with our staff and ask us to recommend the classes to achieve your goals.

A: Our computer lab has everything you need, but if you wish to bring your own laptop, please make sure it has the appropriate version of software installed for the lesson. For example, if you are attending a class on Word 2007, you should have Word 2007 already installed on your laptop.

We will have full size keyboards and mice available if you wish to use them.

A: We are located at 843 S. Burlington Blvd., Burlington, WA. Our office and training lab are located between Krispy Kreme and Les Schwab, right in front of Haggen in the white mini mall.

A: We post the list of classes currently scheduled. Click here to see those scheduled classes. Should the class you desire not be listed send us an email at info@TheReedAdvantage.com or call 360-770-4295 outlining the program, version and features you would like to see offered.

If you have a day of the week and time preference let us know what they are as we do our best to accommodate those requests.

There are many software options available, not all of which are in the current class listing. If it is not included in one of our classes, we may be able to customize a class for you.

A: Our classes are not cancelled due to low enrollment. Even if you are the only student signed up for the class you can count on it being held.

On rare occasion there may be the need to cancel a class (for instance:

no power, a flood, some other circumstance beyond our control). In such case we will call each student as soon as we know and we will reschedule the class as soon as possible or refund your money - your choice.

Frequently Asked Questions for
Corporate Training Classes

A:

  • Our Quality and Commitment.
  • Instructors who are excited about what they teach.
  • Our hands-on trainers have the practical experience to answer application questions. Our classes are not a series of dry lectures.

  • Material that is exemplary and includes additional skill building exercises so students continue learning after the class is over.
  • Speed that is carefully paced to give you more than an introduction to the software features being covered.
  • Flexibility. Whether it is your schedule or budget that is unique, we work with you to provide solutions and meet your needs.
  • Follow-up care for 2 weeks after each class - as students work to apply what they have learned we are available via phone or email to problem solve and enable them to experience success.

A: We offer a growing list of programs including but not limited to:
  • Microsoft Office programs: Access, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, etc.
  • Intuit's QuickBooks
  • Microsoft Project
  • Basic Computer Concepts
  • Introduction to the Internet
  • Others are available - let us know what you are looking for.

A: Definitely. We'll discuss your needs, make a site visit and work out the details with you. Any electronic files needed for the classes will be sent to your company to be installed by your IT department prior to the classes.

A: Your company is always more than welcome to use our training lab.  Other accommodations can be arranged to allow classroom training at a site within reasonable distance from your facility. We can make the arrangements or you can set it up and we will go there to serve you.

A: For optimal learning we recommend no more than 12 students per class. We encourage smaller class sizes to allow time for students to ask questions and for us to monitor their progress throughout the class. Larger classes may be accommodated given circumstances however to insure the quality we will provide an assistant to the instructor if required.

A: Each situation is different so cost is unable to be addressed on this site. It depends on a number of factors such as how many students, how many programs of study, how many lessons per course, how difficult the subject is, and so on. After receiving an outline of what you are looking for we provide a commitment free, no cost quote for interested parties.

A: That depends on the course. For a class such as Microsoft Word, the course developers recommend 2 - 2 1/2 hours per lesson. (An example of a lesson might be using mail merge.) A QuickBooks class generally takes longer due to the complexity of the materials.
